The Virgil Y Russell Collection
Famous Collector, Author, and Dealer
Virgil Y. Russell (1895-1957) of Casper, Wyoming, was one of the hobby’s first truly prominent leaders. He authored Indian Artifacts of the Rockies (1945), and Indian Artifacts (1951) - some of the very first books of their kind available to collectors. His primary interest was in Folsom and ‘Yuma’ points, and he was a regular exhibitor at the Colorado Stone Age Fair (Now the Loveland Stone Age Fair). This sale features numerous pieces from his collection which include original Russell provenance letters dating to the 1950’s. It also includes provenance letters from other early collectors such as Ernie Cowles, Raymond Long and Charles Jensen. Many Paleo types are offered along with agates, Alibates, and many superb high grade materials.

The Brooks Family Collection
This sale also includes items from the Brooks Family Collection. The Brooks Family operated a spa and spring water company at Blue Licks Spring and Battlefield in Robertson County, Kentucky in the early 1900’s until the Brooks Family deeded the property to the State of Kentucky, now a state resort park and historic site.

Also present in this sale are a number of quality smaller consignments from private collections to round out the sale.
